Doors Open Toronto- Our latest Mural
During the month of April, Art City was invited to create a mural piece to commemorate the war of 1812 for display at the Parliament Street Interpretive Centre. We created a mixed media collage piece using magazines, paper, drawing, gel mediums and more. It was part of Doors Open Toronto and the 1812 Commemorative event Celebrations at the museum in April. These photos are from our visit to the museum in May with our after school program. To view more photos, check out our Facebook Page!

WE WANT YOUR PENNIES!
We are doing a penny drive to buy a digital projector for the after school and summer program! This will enhance the learning and teaching opportunity for our students who attend Art City. Everyone knows how much kids love new technology!
The parents of Art City have been very supportive of this cause so look under the living room couch and ask around.

Our Heritage Mural is Done!
The Honourable David C. Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, joined the Ontario Heritage Trust for the event on Sunday, April 28th. The event commemorating the bicentennial of the battle and occupation of York in 1813. The event featured speakers and performances, followed by tours of the exhibit “Foundations & Fire: Early Parliament and the War of 1812 Experience at York.” The Art City mural will be up until the end of May, so make sure to check it out along with other murals created buy the local schools
Everyone hand a hand in creating this mixed media mural. Our students ages 6-14, high school & adult volunteers, staff and even some parents stayed behind to help add the finishing touches. The materials used to create this mixed media masterpiece: magazine paper, special hand painted paper, oil pastels, spray paint, custom paper log houses, boys and girls from 1812, and a lot of glue/gloss!
We can’t wait to see it in the exhibit!
