Every Monday Art City holds a youth drawing class with Artist Karen Evans. This program is for the youth of St. James Town aged 10 years and older. The students learn all about shading, values, and still life drawing.
The drawings from the youth range from drawing fruit to shells, asparagus and roosters to everyday objects such as brooms and dust pans. This program allows the students to learn in a small class setting, further develop their art skills and make new friends along the way!
This week’s class focused on close-ups of shells and the students learned about how the light reflects and creates shadows on the shells. They looked at small shells and made them larger-than-life, so they could really focus on the small details and textures of the different types of shells.
